Our Leadership and Staff
Reverend Michelle Dellinger Cockcroft
Pastor Michelle began her ministry at St. Mark in June 2019. She preaches the gospel of Jesus, the Christ and that we are to Love God and Love People. She emphasizes that God calls us all to live our faith in our communities in ways so that others may come to know the love and grace of God and so that their lives may be transformed by that love.
She came to Charleston after serving as the Associate Pastor at Simpsonville and Aldersgate UMCs and the pastor in charge at Greenpond UMC in the Greenville District. She was ordained in 2013 after receiving her MDIV from Duke Divinity in 2010.
Michelle loves learning and took a wandering route to ministry, not imagining ministry was her call. She received a BS in Biology and a BA in Political Science from USC Upstate. She envisioned life in public service and pursued and received a master's in Politics & the Life Sciences and Public Policy from Northern Illinois University. While discerning her next educational step, she began working in the accounting department for a virtual textile company to repay student loans. Ultimately, she worked there for about 10 years in accounting, customer service, ending up as a manager in information services.
She met Chris, her husband, through Bible study with his mother in 1997 and they were married in 1999. They share their lives with one wonderful son Joshua. Their family includes two crazy mutts who were dropped off at their first parsonage in 2011 and won their hearts. She says she and Chris were already Star Wars fans and raising a son, she had no choice but to become a Marvel movie fan. She enjoys PBS shows – ancestry, nature, documentaries, cooking/baking, news, just about anything; Netflix, reading, shopping, walking in the woods, and now, the opportunity to walk on the beach! The family would love opportunities to get out on the ocean. Michelle loves coffee, chocolate, berries (strawberries and blueberries are her favs!), and SHRIMP!
